August, 2008 (Lexington, KY) — US loudspeaker company THIEL Audio (HUwww.thielaudio.comUH) has announced that the THIEL factory in Lexington, Kentucky has been selected as a destination in the Consumer Electronics Association’s 28-state “America Wins with Trade” bus tour initiative. The bus will be at the THIEL factory for one hour on Friday, September 5th from 9 AM to 10 AM.
"We are honored to be included as a stop on the Consumer Electronics Association’s Free Trade Bus Tour that is going across America,” said THIEL president Kathy Gornik. “The CEA understands how important it is to all businesses and their employees, both large and small, to have open markets around the world. Without free trade, THIEL's opportunity for growing and adding jobs is greatly diminished,” Gornik added.
The festivities at THIEL on September 5th will include optional tours of the THIEL factory before and after the bus arrives, and anyone from the region interested in learning more about free trade is encouraged to attend. There will be remarks during the 9:00 AM presentation by Glenda MacMullin, CFO for Consumer Electronics Association, Andy Hightower, Kentucky Club for Growth, David Adams, Bluegrass Institute Steven Claeys, Deputy Assistant Secretary, Import Administration, and Lana Ruth, THIEL Audio.
According to CEA data, the consumer electronics industry employs more than 4.4 million Americans, and foreign trade plays a critical role in the industry’s health. As an example, one in seven of those jobs (about 616,000 in total) are directly tied to America’s trade overseas. The CEA has called on Congress to address several issues tied directly to free trade. “We are grateful to be a part of an organization willing to take a stand and invest money and hard work to educate citizens about the benefits of open markets for all Americans everywhere,” Gornik stated. “Additionally, we are optimistic and excited to be a part of an increasingly open and peaceful world where opportunities to create wealth, elevate living standards, and find harmonious common ground through trade with foreign countries are advancing. Thank you, CEA!"
